hey, not wanting to get too heavy here, but i've been listening almost non-stop to the Stones Throw podcast from the Gaslamp Killer, and i think it's the future sound of hip hop. It's not very long at only 22 mins, but i love it. Recorded live during his warm up set at Hella International.

Last week, i was trying to book tickets for a gig here in London, a miserable experience at the best of times, what with the complicated T&C's and 'extra charges'. I was also bemoaning the corporate influx into our music venues: the Brixton academy is now the O2 Academy Brixton, the Hammersmith Apollo is now the HMV Hammersmith Apollo, and my venue was to be the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire. So imagine my wry smile when i got through to the ordering page for my tickets, and the following captcha came up:

Ross Lovegrove, what a guy.... He's known in the design world (at least behind closed doors) as Gross Selflove, and his latest photograph is certainly fuel to that fire. He's just completed a sink for Vitra, which i assume is in time for the salone, and as per usual he's included himself in the photo. He's gone the next step this time though, casting himself as some sort of design god.

I've got a great Ross Lovegrove story, which i unfortunately can't share here, but if you want a peep into his world, you could do worse than watching his TED talk. The guy has many fans, but none so avid as himself...

Phillips cinema 21:9

Phillips have just announced a 21:9 ratio TV... (that's full cinematic proportions to you and me), and to accompany it, they've commissioned an impressive promo movie. Here's the blurb:
